Howdy! Welcome to The Shepherd's Daughter's blog...a place where I hope you will be blessed and encouraged as I share a variety of things from my journey with my Father. This is actually my second attempt at posting my first entry...in my journey of learning I lost my first entry right as I was just ready to post. I figure it is either a sign from God not to pursue doing a blog, the devil trying to stop me from doing something for God's glory, or just simply my lack of knowledge in this big blog cyber world. Well, some time has passed, and friends and family who were made aware of me starting a blog are patiently waiting for that first entry and gently encouraging me to do this. That is pretty good motivation! ;-) I hesitated for a long time in starting a blog...scared to share my life with the world. However I often want to share what the Lord, my Shepherd, teaches me along with His wonderful goodness. I know, too, that this will help me on my journey of serving God and loving HIM with my whole heart. My desire is for The Shepherd's Daughter blog to always bring glory to Him, to draw me closer to my Shepherd, and to be a blessing to others. It will be a place that I share all sorts of things...at least that's my goal. ;-) It's a place to share who I am as the Shepherd's daughter...not because of me but who God has created me to be--and creating me to be!!! I know there is "nothing new under the sun," yet God's goodness and grace are new each day as I walk with the Lord. A lot of you, my friends, have expressed a desire to see me do a blog so I can share my life better with you. Thank you for your encouragement! :-)
I chose the title of my blog for several reasons. It's common to hear we are a daughter of the King, and I wholeheartedly agree with that. However, I feel that it's often overlooked in our life that we are the Shepherd's daughter as well. One of my favorite personalities of our Lord is that He is a loving Shepherd Who leads us, guides us, carries us, provides for us, cares about us, loves us. As a shepherd He is humble and gentle yet firm. Sheep are one of my favorite animals, our church's name is Shepherd Baptist Church, our town is known for sheep, so it just seemed a perfect title for my blog. ;-)
For those who don't know who I am, I will give you the short version...um, no pun intended there. I am a 4'9" (at my tallest I was 4'10 3/4"... but I've already started the reverse growing process!) missionary wife serving with my honey in Hokkaido, Japan. God has blessed us with 6 wonderful children ages 4-15. We went to Japan December 2000, and are currently on our second furlough. I feel blessed beyond measure with God's goodness in my life. I look forward to sharing more about all this in future posts. ;-)
